Damansara City
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Mixed Use / Transit-Oriented Development | Project Management & Design Coordination
Damansara City is the first integrated transit-oriented development (TOD) in the prestigious Damansara Heights neighbourhood, designed to spearhead a new era of luxury and convenience. This landmark 8.5-acre freehold project seamlessly integrates five key components: two Grade A office towers, two luxury residential blocks, a 5-star international hotel, and a lifestyle retail mall.
D+DM provided project management and design coordination support, ensuring all facets of this complex, multi-component development were delivered cohesively to establish a new benchmark for urban living in Kuala Lumpur.
Context
Developed by Damansara City Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of GuocoLand Malaysia, the RM 1.2 billion project was envisioned as a self-sufficient community in one of Kuala Lumpur's most affluent suburbs. The project's vision was to create a diverse, sustainable, and connected hub for living, working, and leisure. A key challenge was communicating the value of this high-density integrated development to a neighbourhood traditionally opposed to change, demonstrating that the project would enhance, not diminish, local property values.
Approach
The project's scale, encompassing 471,800 square meters of development, required meticulous coordination between multiple architectural and engineering disciplines. D+DM’s project management framework focused on the seamless integration of the five distinct components. This involved managing the complex phasing of the project, which saw the residential and office towers completed in 2015-2016, followed by the hotel in 2017. The team ensured that all elements, from the Green Building Index (GBI) certified office towers to the 5-star quality residential finishes, were executed to the highest standard.
Result
Damansara City successfully delivered a new landmark for Damansara Heights, establishing itself as the premier integrated development in the area. The project’s direct connectivity to the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT station validated its TOD model, offering unparalleled access to the city. The development has become a sought-after address for high-end residences, multinational corporations, and luxury retail and hospitality.
