Mixed Use / Urban Regeneration | Project Management & Design Coordination

South Creek represents a transformative urban regeneration project located in Western Sydney — part of a broader master-planned vision to create a vibrant mixed-use precinct centred around environmental resilience, sustainable transport, and public realm design excellence. The development integrates residential, commercial, and community functions within a cohesive urban framework designed to respond to the site’s natural creek corridor and surrounding context.

D+DM provided project management and design coordination support, ensuring design integrity, delivery feasibility, and stakeholder alignment across multiple disciplines during planning and development.

Context

Designed by Architectus, the South Creek precinct was conceived as a benchmark for sustainable urban design — reimagining how water-sensitive planning, density, and liveability can coexist in a rapidly growing region of Sydney. The development forms part of the New South Wales Government’s strategic response to population growth, urban expansion, and environmental regeneration within the Western Sydney Growth Area.

D+DM’s engagement focused on early-stage planning and delivery coordination, supporting the integration of design objectives with infrastructure and authority requirements. This role demanded careful alignment between public and private sector stakeholders to ensure the project maintained design vision while achieving practical delivery outcomes.

Approach

Given the site’s environmental and infrastructural complexity, the project required meticulous coordination between architects, engineers, planners, and landscape designers. D+DM’s approach centred on structured stakeholder management and transparent communication, enabling key design and delivery decisions to be made collaboratively and efficiently.

The team established clear frameworks for consultant interface management, design milestone tracking, and approvals documentation to meet regulatory and environmental compliance obligations.
This ensured the project maintained momentum through early planning while protecting the integrity of the design response to the creek corridor and its floodplain conditions.

D+DM’s project management framework also facilitated collaboration between local government, infrastructure providers, and the Architectus design team — balancing environmental priorities with urban and commercial imperatives.

Result

South Creek establishes a new model for sustainable urban communities in Western Sydney — an integrated environment that connects housing, employment, and open space through a landscape-first design approach. The development reinforces the importance of water-sensitive design and community connectivity as fundamental drivers of liveable urban growth.

Through disciplined project management and design coordination, D+DM contributed to transforming a complex site into a coherent, high-performing urban precinct that reflects both environmental responsibility and design quality.
